IEEE 1394 Hard Disk Drive Note For Windows 98SE

**Microsoft has provided the "Storage Supplement Update" on "Windows Update" website, This patch file can let IEEE 1394 devices work more stable and can be removed safely from system.**

Please follow the procedure to download this patch file:

1.

In Windows 98SE system, making sure you have connected to the Internet.

2.

Click "Start" then "Windows Update" to link to the website.

3.

On the website, click "Product Updates" to open the download list.

4.

Under the "Recommended Updates" area, select "Storage Supplement Update", and then click "Download" button to start download and install this patch.

5.

After the update is complete, restart computer.

6.

After the computer is restart and boot into Windows, insert the IEEE 1394 interface cable into computer, the external hard disk drive will be recognized automatically.

Serial-ATA Hard Disk Drive Note For All Windows System

 **Because recently Serial-ATA Host Controller and Windows systems don't support Hot-Insert/Remove feature for Serial-ATA device, you MUST connect this external hard disk drive before power-on computer, and disconnect this drive after power-off computer.**

Please follow the procedure to use this Serial-ATA external hard disk drive:

1.

Make sure the Serial-ATA Host Controller on your computer is installed properly.

2.

Power-off computer first.

3.

Insert the Serial-ATA interface cable into the external hard disk drive and computer, and then power-on the disk drive.

4.

Power-on computer.

5.

After boot into Windows, the external hard disk drive will be recognized automatically and ready to use.

6.

To disconnect the external hard disk drive, just power-off computer and then plug out the Serial-ATA interface cable from computer.
