Q:

Under Windows XP, the UB200 card works unstable (can't work or the transfer speed is too slow), how to solve this problem?

A:

This problem is because Windows XP has installed Microsoft's USB2.0 driver for the UB200 card.

The Microsoft USB2.0 driver is not compatible with the UB200 card, it will make the card unstable, you must install the driver that we provide to solve the problem.

If your Windows XP has been upgraded to Service Pack 1, or your computer is linking to Internet when installing the driver for the UB200 card, or you update the USB2.0 Host Controller driver from "Windows Update" Windows XP will automatic install "Microsoft USB2.0 driver" for the UB200 card. .

Unfortunately, the Microsoft USB2.0 driver is not compatible with the UB200 card, it will make the card unstable, you must install the driver that we provide to solve the problem

You can install our driver in two conditions, they are:

Install driver at the first time installation

Update The Driver If Windows XP Automatic Install Microsoft USB2.0 Driver

Install Driver At The First Time Installation :

1.

Boot into Windows. Do not insert the UB200 card, insert the device driver diskette into floppy drive, explorer the diskette, and double-click on "Setup.exe" to run the installation program. This program will copy the necessary driver files into your internal hard disk, just follow the on-screen instruction to complete it.

2.

Restart computer and boot into Windows, insert the UB200 card into computer.

3.

Windows will detect this card and startup "Found New Hardware Wizard"?

4.

On the first screen, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"? click Next to continue

5.

On the following screen, select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"? click Next.

6.

Select "CardBus to USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller" and then click Next. If you don't find the driver in the list, click "Have Disk" to specify the location for Windows to search the driver, the location is "C:\Windows\Drivers\OUSB2"

7.

Windows starts to install the driver, if Windows prompts "The software has not passed the Windows Logo testing" click "Continue Anyway" to continue.

8.

On the following screen, click Finish.

9.

Windows will then detect another new device-"USB 2.0 Root Hub Device" On the first screen, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" click Next to continue.

Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" click Next.

11.

Select "USB 2.0 Root Hub Device" and then click Next. If you don't find the driver in the list, click "Have Disk" to specify the location for Windows to search the driver, the location is "C:\Windows\Drivers\OUSB2"

12.

Windows starts to install the driver, if Windows prompts "The software has not passed the Windows Logo testing" click "Continue Anyway" to continue.

13.

On the following screen, click Finish to complete the installation.

14.

Check "Device Manager" to ensure the following devices are installed under "Universal Serial Bus Controller"

CardBus to USB2.0 Enhanced Host Controller

Two "NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller"

USB2.0 Root Hub Device

Two "USB Root Hub"

Update The Driver If Windows XP Automatic Install Microsoft USB2.0 Driver?

Check "Device Manager" to see whether your Windows XP automatic install "Microsoft USB2.0 driver" for the UB200 card.

The Microsoft USB2.0 driver is not compatible with the UB200 card, it will make the card unstable, you must install the driver that we provide to solve the problem.

There are two versions of Microsoft USB2.0 driver, they are shown as the following pictures in "Device Manager"

The following is the procedure to update the Microsoft driver with the correct driver:

1.

Boot into Windows. Do not insert the UB200 card, insert the device driver diskette into floppy drive, explorer the diskette, and double-click on "Setup.exe" to run the installation program. This program will copy the necessary driver files into your internal hard disk, just follow the on-screen instruction to complete it.

Restart computer and boot into Windows, insert the UB200 card into computer.

Click "Start" right-click "My Computer" click "Properties" from the pop up menu, then click "Hardware" tab and then click "Device Manager" button to open the "Device Manager" window.

4.

Double-click "Universal Serial Bus Controller" to expand the device list.

5.

Right-click on "NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller B1" click "Update Driver" from the pop up menu.

Windows startup "Hardware Update Wizard"

7.

On the first screen, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" click Next to continue.

8.

On the following screen, select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" click Next.

9.

Select "CardBus to USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller" and then click Next. If you don't find the driver in the list, click "Have Disk" to specify the location for Windows to search the driver, the location is "C:\Windows\Drivers\OUSB2"

10.

Windows starts to install the driver, if Windows prompts "The software has not passed the Windows Logo testing" click "Continue Anyway" to continue.

11.

On the following screen, click Finish.

Windows will then detect another new device-"USB 2.0 Root Hub Device" On the first screen, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" click Next to continue.

Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" click Next.

14.

Select "USB 2.0 Root Hub Device" and then click Next. If you don't find the driver in the list, click "Have Disk" to specify the location for Windows to search the driver, the location is "C:\Windows\Drivers\OUSB2"

15.

Windows starts to install the driver, if Windows prompts "The software has not passed the Windows Logo testing" click "Continue Anyway" to continue.

16.

On the following screen, click Finish to complete the installation.

17.

After the updating, the devices will be updated to the following:

CardBus to USB2.0 Enhanced Host Controller

Two "NEC PCI to USB Open Host Controller"

USB2.0 Root Hub Device

Two "USB Root Hub"
