How to make the IEEE 1394 devices working under Windows 98se

A:

1.

Microsoft has provided the 'Storage Supplement Update' on 'Windows Update web site', this patch file can let IEEE1394 devices be removed safely, please go to 'Windows Update' to download this patch file, otherwise, the IEEE1394 device won't work stable.

2.

To download the patch file, please click Start e 'Windows Update' to link to the web site.

3.

On the web site, click 'Product Updates' to open the download list, under the 'Recommended Updates' area, check 'Storage Supplement Update', then click 'Download' button to download the patch and install it.

4.

After the update is complete, restart compute

How to Install the Driver for ARGOSY PCMCIA Hard disk under Windows XP

A:

If Windows XP identifies the device as "ARGOSY-PnPIDE" , download new driver

The Win2000 driver in the driver diskette is also supports Windows XP, please follow the below procedure to install driver:

1.

Boot into Windows XP, connect the PCMCIA HDD to computer, Windows XP will detect a new device and start 'Found New Hardware Wizard'.

2.

Insert the device driver diskette included in product package into floppy drive, and then click 'Next'.

3.

Windows XP will find a driver from the diskette, click 'Yes' or 'Continue anyway' on the next two warning messages to continue the installation.

4.

Click 'Finish' to complete the driver installation.

5.

Check 'Device Manager', you can find a new device called 'PCMCIA HARDDISK (Windows 2000)' has been installed under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers'.

6.

Now the HDD should works properly.

     

If Windows XP identifies the device as "PCMCIA-PnPIDE" , see this instruction

The Windows XP built-in driver for our PCMCIA Hard disk has bug, we recommend you update it with the Win2000 driver in the driver diskette to fix the problem. 

The following is the procedure:

1.

Boot into Windows XP, connect the PCMCIA HDD to computer, Windows XP will install its built-in driver. Please wait for few minutes let system finish the installation. Windows XP won't allow you to cancel the installation, please be patient.

2.

Open 'Device Manager' (right-click 'My Computer', click 'Properties', and then click 'Hardware' -> 'Device Manager').

3.

In 'Device Manager', double-click 'SCSI and RAID controllers', then double-click 'PCMCIA HARD DISK' to open the Properties window.

4.

In 'Properties' window, click 'Driver', then click 'Update Driver' to start the 'Update Device Driver Wizard'.

5.

On the first screen, select 'Install from a list or specified location (Advanced)', then click 'Next'.

6.

Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install', then click 'Next'.

7.

Click 'Have Disk', on the next screen, insert the device driver diskette into floppy drive, click 'Browse' to specify the location to 'A:\Win2000' (or specify the location that 'PCMHD2K.INF' is exist), then click 'OK'. Make sure the selected driver is 'PCMCIA HARD DISK (Windows 2000)', click 'Next'.

8.

Click 'Yes' or 'Continue anyway' on the next two warning messages.

9.

Click 'Finish' to complete the installation.

10.

Now the device is updated, a new device called 'PCMCIA HARD DISK (Windows 2000)' is listed under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers', the HDD should works properly.

How to Install the Driver for ARGOSY PCMCIA DVD-ROM under Windows XP

A:

If Windows XP identifies the device as "ARGOSY-PnPIDE" , download new driver

The Win2000 driver in the driver diskette is also supports Windows XP, please follow the below procedure to install driver:

1.

Boot into Windows XP, connect the PCMCIA DVD-ROM to computer, Windows XP will detect a new device and start 'Found New Hardware Wizard'.

2.

Insert the device driver diskette included in product package into floppy drive, and then click 'Next'.

3.

Windows XP will find a driver from the diskette, click 'Yes' or 'Continue anyway' on the next two warning messages to continue the installation.

4.

A:

Windows XP has included the driver for our PCMCIA CD-ROM and CD-RW, just connect the PCMCIA CD-ROM or CD-RW to computer, Windows XP will detect and install driver for the device automatically.

2.

After the installation, check 'Device Manager', you can find a new device called 'PCMCIA IDE/ATAPI Controller' has been installed under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers'.

3.

Now the CD-ROM or CD-RW should works properly.

How to Install the Driver for USB1.1 Devices under Windows XP

A:

1.

Windows XP has built-in the driver for our USB1.1 devices (CD-ROM, CD-RW, and hard disk), just connect the USB devices to computer, Windows XP will detect and install driver for the device automatically.

2.

After the installation, check 'Device Manager', you can find a new device called 'Scanlogic USB Storage Device' has been installed under 'Universal Serial Bus controllers'.

3.

Now the USb device should works properly.

The Windows XP system is hanging when install PCMCIA DVD-ROM, Hard disk, and CD-RW (Model-F card) on Toshiba notebook

A:

Applied models:

Applied PCMCIA devices -- PCMCIA DVD-ROM (Model-F card), PCMCIA Hard Disk (Model-D card), and PCMCIA CD-RW (Model-F card).

Applied notebook -- Toshiba Portege 3110CT, Portege 3409CT, Tecra 8100, and the other models equipped "Toshiba ToPIC100 CardBus Controller" PCMCIA controller. The name of PCMCIA controller lists under "PCMCIA adapters" in "Device Manager".

Symptom:

When install the driver of the above PCMCIA devices on a Toshiba notebook (uses Windows XP), the system will hangs and no reaction.

Reason:

This problem only happens with the Toshiba notebook equipped "Toshiba ToPIC100 CardBus Controller" PCMCIA controller. When the "PC CARD" setting in BIOS is set to "Auto-Selected", the ToPIC100 CardBus controller has problem to operates these 16-bit PCMCIA devices properly. 

It is probably bug of the WinXP driver of ToPIC CardBus controller, or bug of the BIOS, because this problem doesn't happen with other operating systems (Win 98/Me/2000).

Solution:

Change the "PC CARD" setting in BIOS, set the value to "CardBus/16-bit". After reboot, Windows XP will recognize the PCMCIA controller as "Toshiba ToPIC95 CardBus Controller", and the problem will be solved.

How to change the BIOS setting of Toshiba notebook:

1.

Turn off the computer.

2.

Hold down the ESC key and turn on the computer.

3.

When you receive the following message: "Check system. Then press F1 key", press F1 key, and the "System Setup" screen appears.

4.

Press Page-Down key change to the page 2.

5.

Use the arrow key to move to the "PC CARD" setting, press spacebar to change the value, change it to "CardBus/16-bit".

6.

Press End key to save the changes, then press Y key to reboot the system.
