click Start e 'Windows Update' to link to the web site. |

procedure to install driver: |

PCMCIA HDD to computer, Windows XP will detect a new device and
start 'Found New Hardware Wizard'. |

2. |
Insert the device driver diskette
included in product package into floppy drive, and then click
'Next'. |

3. |
Windows XP will find a driver from
the diskette, click 'Yes' or 'Continue anyway' on the next two
warning messages to continue the installation. |

4. |
Click 'Finish' to complete the
driver installation. |
|
|
5. |
Check 'Device Manager', you can find
a new device called 'PCMCIA HARDDISK (Windows 2000)' has been
installed under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers'. |

Now the HDD should works properly. |

built-in driver. Please wait for few minutes let system finish
the installation. Windows XP won't allow you to cancel the
installation, please be patient. |

Open 'Device Manager'
(right-click 'My Computer', click 'Properties', and then click
'Hardware' -> 'Device Manager'). |

3. |
In 'Device Manager',
double-click 'SCSI and RAID controllers', then double-click
'PCMCIA HARD DISK' to open the Properties window. |

|
4. |
In 'Properties'
window, click 'Driver', then click 'Update Driver' to start the
'Update Device Driver Wizard'. |

5. |
On the first screen,
select 'Install from a list or specified location (Advanced)',
then click 'Next'. |

Select 'Don't search,
I will choose the driver to install', then click 'Next'. |

Click 'Have Disk', on
the next screen, insert the device driver diskette into floppy
drive, click 'Browse' to specify the location to 'A:\Win2000'
(or specify the location that 'PCMHD2K.INF' is exist), then
click 'OK'. Make sure the selected driver is 'PCMCIA HARD DISK
(Windows 2000)', click 'Next'. |

Click 'Yes' or
'Continue anyway' on the next two warning messages. |

DVD-ROM (Model-F card), PCMCIA Hard Disk (Model-D card), and
PCMCIA CD-RW (Model-F card). |

Applied notebook -- Toshiba Portege
3110CT, Portege 3409CT, Tecra 8100, and the other models
equipped "Toshiba ToPIC100 CardBus Controller" PCMCIA
controller. The name of PCMCIA controller lists under
"PCMCIA adapters" in "Device Manager". |
|
|
Symptom: |
|
|
When install the driver of the above
PCMCIA devices on a Toshiba notebook (uses Windows XP), the
system will hangs and no reaction. |
|
|
Reason: |
|
|
This problem only happens with the
Toshiba notebook equipped "Toshiba ToPIC100 CardBus
Controller" PCMCIA controller. When the "PC CARD"
setting in BIOS is set to "Auto-Selected", the
ToPIC100 CardBus controller has problem to operates these 16-bit
PCMCIA devices properly. |
|
|
It is probably bug of the WinXP
driver of ToPIC CardBus controller, or bug of the BIOS, because
this problem doesn't happen with other operating systems (Win
98/Me/2000). |
|
|
Solution: |
|
|
Change the "PC CARD"
setting in BIOS, set the value to "CardBus/16-bit".
After reboot, Windows XP will recognize the PCMCIA controller as
"Toshiba ToPIC95 CardBus Controller", and the problem
will be solved. |
|
|
How to change the BIOS setting of
Toshiba notebook: |
|
|
1. |
Turn off the
computer. |
|
|
2. |
Hold down the ESC key
and turn on the computer. |
|
|
3. |
When you receive the
following message: "Check system. Then press F1 key",
press F1 key, and the "System Setup" screen appears. |
|
|
4. |
Press Page-Down key
change to the page 2. |
|
|
5. |
Use the arrow key to
move to the "PC CARD" setting, press spacebar to
change the value, change it to "CardBus/16-bit". |
|
|
6. |
Press End key to save
the changes, then press Y key to reboot the system. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
